What Anthropic does.
Anthropic makes Claude, a family of AI models sold mostly to businesses: developers pay per token through its API and the three big clouds, teams pay per seat for the Claude apps, and large companies sign enterprise contracts. Its coding agent, Claude Code, passed $2.5 billion in run-rate revenue by February 2026, and business customers bring in the large majority of its revenue.
Funding and the road to an IPO.
A $65 billion Series H in May 2026 valued Anthropic at $965 billion, making it the most valuable private AI company. It confidentially filed a draft S-1 on June 1, 2026, and reports put a Nasdaq listing in November 2026, led by Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, though Anthropic has confirmed no date.
Getting exposure today.
Amazon and Alphabet are its largest outside shareholders and its main cloud and chip partners, which makes them the closest listed proxies. Microsoft, Nvidia and AMD have smaller stakes. In each case Anthropic is a small part of a much larger company.
